Choosing And Installing Your New Bathtub

If you are a homeowner wanting to remodel your bathroom, like many other homeowners, chances are you will want to replace your bathtub.  In the United States, many homeowners would like to have a new bathtub, and if you are one of them you should do just that.  With just a little bit of planning, adding a new bathtub into your bathroom remodeling project isn't all that difficult to do.

Probably the the first step in choosing your new bathtub is deciding on how much money you can afford to spend.  You'll want to not only look at the cost of the new bathtub, but your overall bathroom remodeling budget. If you spend too much on the bathtub, it could seriously affect the rest of your bathroom remodeling project.  By setting a budget for your new bathtub, you'll also be cutting down on your shopping time.  There will will be no point spending time looking at bathtubs which are not in your budget.

It is also a good idea to decide, ahead of time, how you want your bathtub to be installed.  If you plan on having a professional install the new bathtub for you, you will have to include the additional charges into the budget for your new bathtub. If you do have a contractor install your bathtub, you may want to find one who specializes in installing bathtubs, as they will be able to get it installed in as little as a few hours.  If you would like to avoid paying a contractor, you may choose to install the bathtub yourself.

Whether you decide to install your own bathtub, or have a contractor do it for you, you will first need to find and purchase the bathtub.  If you're having the old bathtub completely removed, you'll find you have more options.  If you are simply replacing an old bathtub with a new one, the new one will have to be about the same size.  However, if you are going to have a completely "new" bathroom, you may want something quite different.  Fortunately, you have an unlimited number of options.

The most commonly installed bathtubs in the United States are traditional bathtubs known as standard tubs.  These bathtubs are usually placed in a corner, connected right to the wall, and sit on the floor.  The nice thing about tradional bathtubs is they are realitively inexpensive, and can be purchased for as little as two hundred dollars.  On the other hand, if price isn't as important as comfort, you may be looking for a spa-like bathtub or even a massage tabhtub.  As you might imagine, these tubs are more expensive than the others, and can run as much as one to two thousand dollars.  If you are looking for a trendy and stylish bathtub, you may prefer to have one which is freestanding, in which case they can cost as little as five hundred dollors, or as much as many thousands.

Once you've decided on the style of bathtub you would like in your new bathroom, you will need to choose a particular tub.  Probably the best way to do this is to go to your local home improvement store where they have displays set up.  If you don't need this kind of display in order to make your choice, you can also shop online.
