Your New Bathroom Lighting

If you're about to start on a bathroom remodeling project, you know it's important to get nicely styled fixtures, elegant tiling, warm flooring and soothing lighting, and don't forget the bathroom accessories. Then there’s always a new paint job, replacing countertops and vanities, and installing exhaust fans, and new lighting fixtures.

You may want to have subdued lighting in the tub area, but increased lighting by the vanity and mirror, for shaving and applying make-up. In addition, if overhead lighting is desired soffits may need to be framed in.

Do you want task lighting at every functional area or general lighting throughout the bathroom?  Add accent lighting to your bathroom remodeling, like a low-voltage strip of  lights around the top edge of the wall tile.  You can have soft lighting near your tub, a cozy dressing area with plenty of space to try on outfits, and a bench in between two vanities so you can sit while getting ready.

Use extra care when determining the lighting needs, as inadequate lighting is a common problem that exists in most of bathrooms.  Since there are often no windows in basement bathrooms, lighting becomes a particularly important element.  Providing just the right quantity and quality of lighting can create an illusion which maximizes bathroom space.

Space your fixture so that they provide the optimum lighting and effect. Natural lighting is always a great asset whenever it is available.  Paint, showerheads, countertops, vanities, windows, tiling, floors, sink, toilet, appliances, vents, lighting – when it comes to the materials, consider all equally; the style, durability, and cost.

The placement of mirrors in your bathroom can also contribute greatly to the lighting effect, as a mirror always adds light, and makes even the smallest room look lighter and brighter.  This is particularly important in a small bathroom.  You will also want to be certain there are places for candles around your tub.

Your lighting selections are almost unlimited.  While you can go to your local home improvement and department stores, you will definitely want to spend some time on the internet looking for your new bathroom lighting.  The selection is almost unlimited, and you will probably find just that special, and unique lighting setup for your brand new bathroom.
